A positive sign for the Indian Garment Industry is that garment manufacturing companies are adopting a lean culture within their organizations. The lean journey in the Indian garment manufacturing sector has been started five years ago. Some companies have already done Lean implementation phase, a Few companies are in the implementation phase, where others are preparing their mind to go for lean implementation.

A list of companies that have implemented lean tools in their production facilities has been listed below.

Small-sized apparel manufacturers started this journey as a group. National Productivity Council (NPC), a Government body, funded for lean implementation in ready-made garment (RMG) industry in Indian apparel clusters.
In 2010, NPC hired domestic consultants to implement lean practices in ready-made garment clusters, aiming to improve awareness of lean principles. Under each cluster, 10-12 companies benefited from the lean implementation. To name a few clusters

- Kolkata cluster
In Delhi and NCR, 10 more companies that are members of Okhla Garment and Textile Cluster (OGTC) started Lean implementation program in 2010.
