In industrial production, five different types of sewing machines are used in making basic Polo shirts. These machines are mainly used for making this product. The machine types are selected based on the sewing operations and seam class. If you look into the operation breakdown of the polo shirt, you will it has around 20 operations and most of the operations can be performed by single needle lock stitch machines. For the operations, you need an overlock or flatlock sewing machine.
- Lock stitch (Single Needle),
- Over edge (Overlock),
- Button holing machine,
- Button attaching and
- Flatlock (Flatbed).
The same machine is shared for multiple operations when work content is less than pitch time and the machine type is the same for both operations.
In the following table, a machine requirement plan or layout has been shown for the production of 500 Polo shirts in 8-hour shifts. Machine types and machine requirements in each operation have been also given in the following table. This list will give a fair idea about machine requirements to prepare your project in a polo shirt line setup.
